Since the CRA Reform, we have been actively working with the Office of Comptroller of Currency (OCC) on its Project REACH: Creating Economic Access for Minority Communities through the Roundtable for Economic Access and Change aimed at addressing the lack of economic access faced by minorities and other underserved groups. The goal is to achieve structural national changes by developing actionable ideas and to implement a larger number of locally-based demonstration projects that serve as a model for financial inclusion and wealth building in other communities around the country. This provides an opportunity for regulators, community organizations, major financial institutions and minority depository institutions, and technology innovators to harness market forces allowing minority groups and low-income Americans to own homes, start businesses, and benefit from the same upside opportunities enjoyed by others.
NDC sits on various committees of the Project, particularly Committees on Homeownership, Small Business and Minority Depository Institutions assistance, and is working for implementing regional projects.
