In this Emergency Broadband Benefit Forum virtual event, we invited representatives from various sectors to discuss the Emergency Broadband Benefit (EBB) — a Federal Communications Commission program to help families and households struggling to afford internet service during the COVID-19 pandemic. This new benefit will connect eligible households to jobs, critical healthcare services, virtual classrooms, and so much more.
Acting Chairwoman of the Federal Communications Commission Jessica Rosenworcel shares information about EBB — a $3.2B fund to support households struggling to pay for internet service during the pandemic.
The EBB provides $50 off of a qualifying household’s internet bill (up to $75 dollars on Federally-recognized Tribal lands). And it provides for up to a $100 discount on the purchase of a tablet, laptop or desktop computer if the provider is participating in the equipment option and the consumer contributes between $10 and $50 toward the purchase.
